Snyder, who inherited the company from her grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, has openly shared how her Christian faith intertwines with her life and leadership. While many CEOs might shy away from discussing religion, Snyder sees her faith as an integral part of her identity and the In-N-Out story.
A Faith Forged in Fire
Snyder's journey to faith wasn't without its trials. She faced personal struggles, including three divorces and the tragic loss of her father to a drug overdose. These experiences, she says, led her to seek solace and meaning in Christianity.
"I was calling out to God as my third marriage was failing," Snyder shared in an interview. "I was in a place where I felt I couldn't do ministry because my own heart and home were a mess." It was in this period of vulnerability that she found a deeper connection with her faith, realizing that her identity and purpose were found in Christ.
Subtle Signs of Faith
This deep-rooted faith subtly permeates the In-N-Out brand. Eagle-eyed customers might notice discreet Bible verses printed on cups and wrappers – a tradition started by her uncle Rich Snyder in the early '90s.
"He had just accepted the Lord and wanted to put that little touch of his faith on our brand," Snyder explained. These subtle references are a testament to the family's values and a quiet way of sharing their beliefs with the world.
Beyond the Burger
Snyder's faith extends beyond In-N-Out's packaging. She is actively involved in philanthropic endeavors, including the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, which supports organizations assisting children who have been abused or neglected. She also co-founded Slave 2 Nothing with her husband, a ministry dedicated to fighting human trafficking and addiction.
"My faith is what also compels me to serve our associates and communities," Snyder shared. "I have continued building upon the work started by my grandmother, uncle, and mother..."
Leading with Love
Snyder's leadership style reflects her faith. She emphasizes treating employees and customers with respect and creating a positive work environment. This commitment to values has undoubtedly contributed to In-N-Out's loyal customer base and reputation for excellent service.
"I just want to love, share about God's love, follow Jesus' commands, and bring glory to God," she stated. "I see a kind of practical faith showing up in everything we do at In-N-Out Burger. We treat others the way we want to be treated. It's as simple as that."
An Inspiration to Others
Lynsi Snyder's story is a powerful reminder that faith can be a source of strength and guidance even amidst life's challenges. By openly sharing her journey, she inspires others to seek meaning and purpose in their own lives.
In a world where business and faith are often seen as separate spheres, Snyder demonstrates that they can harmoniously coexist. Her leadership at In-N-Out Burger is a testament to the power of faith to shape not just a person, but a company and its culture.
